Meet The Team

Our

Services

Training and Supervision

We provide supervision for intern psychologists, in primary, secondary, and group formats, with structured skill building across the competency training framework. We also offer supervision for experienced (post-registered) psychologists. Curve balls and counter-transference  happen for all of us. Being proactive about seeking support and clarity is a wise move especially when you notice you've become impacted by your work in your personal life.

Psychotherapy

Bruce Psychology specialises in assessment and therapeutic intervention for complex presentations. We have a passion for the art and science of psychology and psychotherapy. There are many therapeutic methods to suit different individuals with all manner of issues. The most important thing for the psychologist or therapist to do is to be self aware, having done their own inner work and healing as well as ongoing professional training over time. We hold space with respectful attention, bringing structure, clarity and compassion to the situation. Life is full of problems and sometimes these are overwhelming and we find ourselves stuck, confused and lost. It's about dealing with it: talking about the stuff that haunts you and is unresolved, which generates symptoms whilst it remains buried. This takes courage, trust and time. We then go on to help unlock hidden resources and connect you to your strength-based integrity; to develop meaning and purpose.

We set goals to achieve greater resilience through connection to your inner self and to others. Learning how to live mindfully in the present. To process and heal old wounds. To focus on what you can change and to accept, forgive and let go of everything else. To bring more love and joy into your life and to find kindness and peace within your own heart. We focus on resilience, skill and capacity building, personal growth and individuation: becoming more of who you really are, guided by wisdom, knowledge and ethics.

Join Our Team

You may be an experienced clinician working in a job, but also seeking a sideline private practice where you can work from home, adding a bit of variety to your work life. Or you may be new to the profession and to private practice, or an intern seeking professional registration. If you have dedication and passion we'd love to hear from you.

We are here to help.

Meet Our Founder

Ben Bruce

Principal Psychologist and Clinic Director.

Ben has over 20 years’ experience working as a psychologist and psychotherapist. He has worked in private practice, hospitals, medical centres, research institutes, schools, prisons, corporations, family court services and NGOs.

With a professional yet good-humoured and compassionate style, Ben focuses on helping the healing process by developing life wisdom. It is important to find a balance of open mindedness and helpful skepticism; to achieve self empowerment  by tapping into inner strengths. He espouses the dialectical approach: the most important thing a therapist can do is to be on your side AND to challenge you to find better ways to navigate problems and even learn and grow from them. You don't need harsh grandstanding or a cold technocrat, nor do you need an enabler who is complicit in any floundering and confusion. Getting the balance right is crucial and based on experience and clinical praxis. Ben works in most areas and specialises in the treatment of trauma and existential crises (often belying depression and anxiety symptoms), working with family systems and helping people find purpose and meaning on their life path.

I aim to create a non-judgemental, empathetic environment where clients can explore their concerns and move towards greater self-awareness and well-being.

I specialize in helping individuals navigate challenges related to stress, burnout, grief, depression, anxiety, and life transitions, as well as performance psychology for creatives, students, and professionals.
